Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation<\/a><\/h6> (CCE) refers to a system of school-based evaluation of students that covers all aspects of students development. It was introduced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India to evaluate the student’s development in all aspects throughout the academic year on a continuous basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

CCE helps in improving student\u2019s performance by identifying his\/her learning difficulties at regular time intervals right from the beginning of the academic session and employing suitable remedial measures for enhancing their learning performance. It refers to a system of school based assessment that covers all aspects student\u2019s development.<\/span>

The comprehensive assessment of all round development of the child\u2019s personality includes assessment in the scholastic and co-scholastic aspect in student\u2019s growth. Students will be evaluated both in scholastic and non-scholastic areas as per the guidelines & norms of the CBSE.<\/span>
<\/p>\n

Evaluation of Scholastic Areas<\/span><\/h4>\n

For assessment of the scholastic areas, the academic year is basically divided into two terms and two types of tests will be conducted to assess the academic subjects. Each term will have two Formative Assessment tests and one Summative Assessment test.<\/span><\/p>\n

Formative Assessment<\/strong>
The formative assessment may include quizzes, conversations, oral testing, visual testing, projects, practical, assignments, class test, class work, homework etc., for subjects and four formative tests will be taken for each subject. The performance will be evaluated in grades.<\/span>

Summative Assessment<\/strong>
The Summative assessment will be a pen-paper test conducted by the schools at the end of each term, twice a year. <\/span>

Grading System<\/strong>
All assessment with regard to the academic status of the students will be done in marks and the overall assessment will be given in grades on a 9 point scale in secondary (classes IX & X), 7 point scale for middle school (classes VI to VIII) and 5 point scale for primary (classes I to V). The report cards will carry the grades only.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Evaluation of Co-scholastic Areas<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Co-scholastic domain covers the following like Co-curricular activities, Creative and Literary activities, Aesthetic activities, Clubs and scientific activities, Emotional skills, Social skills, Life skills, Thinking skills etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grading System<\/strong><\/p>\n

Based on the above-mentioned attributes, students are evaluated and there will be no written examination. Grading is done on a five point grading scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

Advantages of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)<\/span><\/p>\n

Evaluation is done throughout the year and therefore it is expected to provide more reliable evidence of students\u2019 progress.<\/span>
* Teachers evaluate students on a day-to-day basis and use the feedback for improvement in teaching \u2013  learning process.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Teachers can use varieties of evaluation methods over and above the written tests.<\/span><\/p>\n

* Students can be assessed in both scholastic and co-scholastic areas. <\/span><\/p>\n

* CCE encourages the students in forming good study habits.<\/span><\/p>\n

* The feedback provided by CCE can be effectively used in remedial teaching to slow learners.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system aims to build on the individual child\u2019s abilities, progress and development.
